Ongoing Discovery and Survey Collection

The survey results aren't yet as robust as we'd like, so we're holding off on the analytics, but discussing some more ideas and one-on-one interview results.

The Surveys Continue

My client had some updates to the surveys, so they went out a little later than we hoped. As a result, we are holding off publishing the analytics until we have some more information. The good news is that we are getting some great feedback. The bad news is, when we try to separate it by age groups to give some insight by venue audience, we find the results are not yet robust enough to say a whole lot. This is where we're looking to get some more information; the results based on how customers learn about events showed some major differences by age groups.

We asked about a variety of types of events, and as of right now, these are the ones with the most interest from our respondents:

  • Trivia (90%)

  • Game Show Nights (80%)

  • Music Bingo (65%)

Other Bingo games, Name That Tune, and Karaoke also all had strong results, so we have some great ideas on how to expand product offerings if this product line grows.

My client also had one-on-one conversations with some of the event managers at bars she frequents. They use a mix of products run by outside companies and their internal staff. They are open to more events, but reluctant to discuss pricing. They do have the necessary equipment to run events (microphones, speakers, etc). We're hoping to get some more information from the anonymous surveys as more results come in, but otherwise, we'll use the product discovery matrix and more research on cost of production to make decisions here. Right now, she wants the focus on building the required content of playlists and downloadable bingo cards, and not on additional physical product sales or hosted services.

Other Discovery Efforts

In other efforts, we have been discussing means of creating playlists. She has been playing with AI resources for building playlists, and the results have been pretty good, so far. Asking AI Chatbots to create lists is a great function, but human review is still a big need. Connecting the playlists to both Bingo Card Generators and Spotify or other music players may be a big part of the development efforts. Her goal right now is for us to develop a system that allows basic customizations to playlists (i.e., let purchasers include/exclude explicit lyrics, set number of songs, choose music service to receive final playlist). We're still in the early exploration of these concepts, but we have come up with some initial user stories that we will use as the basis for epics for development efforts going forward.

  • As a Game Promoter/Seller, I want to have an easy method to build playlists and connect them to card generator tools and music player(s) that customers purchase as downloadable content.

  • As a Game Promoter, I want to understand the best ways to promote events based on location and that location's vibe.

  • As a Venue, I want a game that costs less than the cost in manhours it takes my staff to create it, with content that fits the vibe of my location and my customer base.

  • As a customer, I want a fun, easy game that I can play with my friends and other customers, that makes a great night out.
